The GIZ project I-SMART (Indian Solar Market Aggregation for Rooftop) is part of the GIZ Project on the “ Indo German Solar Partnership- PV Rooftop (IGSP-PVRT 2)”. IGSP-PVRT 2 project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Indian Solar Market Aggregation for Rooftops (I–SMART) is implemented by GIZ in partnership with MNRE to support the scale-up of the residential rooftop solar market in India using demand aggregation. Demand aggregation would help in reducing customer acquisition costs and barriers to adoption. Presently the I-SMART programe is being implemented in 11 States and UTs in India. The first phase of the pograme was implemented in Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. The second phase of the I-SMART project is being run by E&Y and implemented in the State of UP, Maharastra, Punjab and West Bengal.
The objective of the program are
- Create an army of volunteers trained in solar rooftop technology and its schemes in respective states.
- Demand Aggregation and consumer outreach
- Creating targeted content for solar rooftop awareness
- Supporting DISCOM company with MNRE phase-II scheme.
